Resources, Links and Inspiring Things
Below, in no particular order, are some of the ideas, resources and people who have inspired me on my journey.
Sometimes my path has felt so challenging that without such inspiration it would have been very difficult.
I am grateful to anyone who shines out their light and inspires others!
I wanted to share these resources so that others too might benefit from them.
How to be Alone! - everyone needs to spend some time alone in order to best hear the quiet whisperings of their soul. This fun video gives you tips on how to be at ease and enjoy your time with yourself and kind of makes being alone look a bit arty! Elizabeth Gilbert's book Eat, Pray, Love is also very affirming on the topic of being alone, especially related to relationships ending.
Having just mentioned about Elizabeth Gilbert, the following is an inspiring talk she gave about the creative process:
Nonviolent Communication - a beautiful way to effectively communicate with others, healing and resolving relationship issues and understanding the feelings and needs of others as well as your own feelings and needs in the process without having to suppress or resort to anger/blame etc. Developed by Marshall B Rosenberg in the USA and now used by therapists, families, communities and organisations throughout the world. His book 'Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life' sets out the process and is available from Amazon or the website www.cnvc.org. He has produced other books as well which discuss topics such as the purpose of anger and raising children compassionately and facilitates workshops and training around the world. Further information available at www.cnvc.org.
Healing emotional pain - 'The Journey' by Brandon Bays - I find this one of the most profound and effective, yet also straight forward ways to deal with emotional issues, as well as mental and physical pain - for me they are all linked. You can either buy her book and work through the different levels of each issue yourself or find a trained Journey therapist in your area to help you with this work. Visit www.thejourney.com
